Josh can solve a Rubik’s Cube in less than 30 seconds! Here he does it in 24. A real lesson to us all in perseverance!
Welcome to our blog! Apologies for taking a while to get this up and running – technology is not quite my forte! But I’m working on it…
This week in Social Studies, the students will be finishing their Map of My World project and participating in a gallery walk to show off their work. We will also be introducing a new semester-long project called Current Events. In this project, students will choose one Friday during the semester to present a current event to the class. It must be something current, so the event cannot be older than a week from the presentation date. They will research the event using a variety of sources (and they will properly cite them) and they will create a presentation (slideshow, video, poster, etc.). It is a great project that sees the kids learning a lot about the world around them.
In English this week, the students will continue to collect ideas for their personal narrative. We will also spend some time focusing on word choice and specifically on adjectives, nouns, and verbs. The students will have time to write more paragraphs about a variety of topics. These paragraphs will help them focus their ideas for the personal narrative. We have started reading The Giver in class as a read-aloud. We will continue reading it for the next few weeks. It is a great book that fits nicely with our unit on Structures.
On Friday, we have a holiday so there will be no school.
I hope you have an enjoyable week and can make the most of the long weekend!
