I hope you have enjoyed the last two long weekends.
In Social Studies, we are continuing our study of the Materials Economy and sustainability. We have focused on the relationships between extraction, production, distribution, consumption, and disposal. We are working our way toward an interdisciplinary project at the end of the year in which students write and perform a TED talk-style speech about how a specific ecosystem is impacted by the Materials Economy. In English, students are brainstorming and researching information for a persuasive speech they will write about a favourite book from Genre Wheel.
Some important information:
- Summer Book Checkout time will be given to students this Wednesday 5/11.
– PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT for tips and information.
- Quiz this Friday 5/13 for SS. Students will demonstrate what they have learnt about the Materials Economy. We will review in class this week.
- Genre Wheel Persuasive Speeches will begin the week of 5/23.
Think that’s everything!
